Nosework Classes

Introduction to Nose Work

K9 Nose Work® is the fastest growing, most exciting, most universally accessible dog sport. Dogs have an amazing sense of smell and a natural desire to hunt. This class focuses on teaching you how to encourage and develop your dog's natural scenting abilities by using their desire to hunt and their love of toys, food and exercise. It's a great class for your dog to have fun, build confidence, and burn lots of mental and physical energy, and for you to be dazzled by your dog's scenting talents.

Note: 1 1/2 hour long classes

Prerequisite: Proof of appropriate vaccinations or titers.

Puppy Noses!

This class is structured just for puppies under 1 year old to introduce them to Nose Work in the most supportive setting possible, and uses their innate curiosity and lack of inhibitions to jump start them into the sport. Nose Work is the ideal way to both bond with your puppy and keep them safely occupied while burning up that wild puppy energy. A joyous scenting romp for owners and their puppies!

Note: 1 1/2 hour long classes

Prerequisite: Proof of appropriate vaccinations.

Introduction to Odor

This class advances the dog's scent discrimination skills taught in the Introduction to Nose Work Class. All dogs are taught to identify the same first scent, which is a natural essential oil. Additionally, we introduce techniques and tactics for building better dog/handler teamwork. High food or toy motivation is beneficial for this class.

Note: 1 1/2 hour long classes

Prerequisite: Introduction to Nose Work or instructor approval.

Continuing Nose Work

Continuing Nose Work is for dogs that have completed the Introduction to Odor Nose Work class and have met minimum proficiency in finding their initial target odor. This class will continue to develop handler skills and will introduce the teams to additional target odors.

Note: 1 1/2 hour long classes

Prerequisite: Introduction to Nose Work and Introduction to Odor or instructor approval.

Advanced Nose Work

Advanced nose work is designed for the experienced teams and will expand both the handlers' and the dogs' understanding of the three target odors and the concepts of nose work. This class is geared towards tactics, advanced handling and off-leash work. Teams will learn to navigate more intricate and challenging training scenarios onsite and offsite.

Note: 1 1/2 hour long classes
Prerequisite: Introduction to Nose Work, Introduction to Odor and Continuing Nose Work or instructor approval.
